Staying Connected to Your Family: Strategies for Working Professionals

Being a working professional while having a family is both rewarding and exhausting! It often feels impossible to be great in both areas. At work we feel guilty about not being with our family, and at home we feel guilty for the things left undone at work. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies that will help you make the most of your time at work, while meeting the needs of your family…without completely losing yourself in the process. Leslie will discuss with us her journey of starting a nonprofit organization while growing a family, and the struggles and success she’s learned from along the way.
Learning Objectives:
*Participants will identify ways to increase connection to family while at work.

*Participants will identify strategies to improve satisfaction with home and work life balance.

Leslie has experience as a teacher in the public school setting and provides psychotherapy in the home, school, and clinic based settings. She grew up watching Mr. Rogers who was quoted saying, "The greatest thing that we can do is help someone know that they are loved and capable of being loved." With this as a driving motivator, Leslie passionately leads Family Hope House toward becoming a  cornerstone for adoption competent and trauma informed practice in the state of Oklahoma.
While Family Hope House was her first baby, Leslie is the mother of two children and is married to an incredible guy who spends his time supporting FHH as well. If you see Leslie outside of FHH, you will likely find her curled up in a coffee shop with a cup of coffee, chasing her wild herd of kids around Target, or fanatically cheering her Sooners on to victory! Leslie is also an adjunct professor at Southern Nazarene University and teaches Master’s level courses on play therapy.
