Ethical Deterioration with Ara Grigorian, Assurance Manager at Gillispie & Ogilbee CPAs

Ethical Deterioration and Ways to Address it (1 hour CPE)

We’re constantly faced with the challenge to act according to our beliefs, not just in our personal lives but in our professional lives as well.  Beliefs and actions are equally important and as my college philosophy professor summed it up philosophy/ethics is “the principles by which we think and live” (Justus Richards). How do we reconcile the two, especially in a climate with an emphasis on company culture? What are the ethical implications if we don’t? What can we do to avoid ethical deterioration and work towards one driving ideology?

Learning Objectives:

  • Revisiting the role of CPAs and other accounting professionals
  • Evaluate internal and external ethical challenges from the firm’s perspective and the end user’s perspective
  • Determine what steps can be taken to ensure beliefs and behaviors are aligned to avoid ethical deterioration

Speaker Bio: Ara Grigorian, CPA, CCIFP provides accounting and assurance services for small to midsize construction contractors at Gillispie & Ogilbee CPAs in Oklahoma City.
